Walking down Powell Street, I saw JR again in his regular spot in front of the Chagall Gallery. I walked over and as soon as he saw me with my camera, recognition set in. We talked for a while and he told me he'd just talked to his mother in Chicago. He also told me that his lawyer was still working on his SSI and making progress but he still needed some help on the "rent" where he tries to stay. I helped him out and in exchange asked if I could take a few more pictures, including one of those fancy Gucci shoes he told me about last time. He proudly agreed as he bent over to roll up his cuffs for full effect. We talked a short while longer and shook hands, agreeing we'd see each other again.
