I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

Slices Of Light

Slice Of Light
2022_CLondon52w11: ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Fan Ho

From the C.London website: “Fan Ho was not afraid of strong light and shadows - his work bent whatever light was given to him in graphic and compositionally unique ways. His depiction of everyday life was elevated to fine art with silhouettes, rim lighting, and bright backlit glows around his subjects.

Really soak in Fan Ho’s strong compositions and use them for inspiration for this week’s photo.”

Using a post by @Bees in the #Resources channel on the C.London Discord server, I was able to get a good feel for the work of Fan Ho.  Check out the entire gallery of alternate photos on my website at Collections/Artist-Spotlight-Fan-Ho/

Under the Adirondack

Under the Adirondack
C.London52w11:  Harsh Shadows

From the C.London website:  "Strong shadows can create very graphic and strong images. For this week, I’d like you to find harsh shadows created by natural light, and compose an image around that. You may manipulate the scene in any way available to you to create the image you have in mind, but try and use found natural light if possible."

I was scrambling this week to get a challenge photo as there were very few opportunities where the sun was out.  Late in the afternoon yesterday, the sun broke through.  Although I was in the midst of a business meeting, I grabbed my camera and took a few shots out the sliding glass door to the balcony (thanks to the bluetooth AirPods).

My intent for this week was to shoot something graphic; a bridge, fence or something with strong geometry.  By pure chance, I was able to achieve that despite the “11th hour”.
