I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

Along the Singel

Along the Singel
52Frames - Week 20 - High Key
EC: SOOC

Walking along a narrow sidewalk by a canal in Amsterdam's "9 Streets" district, this colored section caught my eye in contrast with my wife's white shoes and black slacks. Due to crowds, I didn't have a lot of time to play with settings. On the 3rd exposure compensation attempt, I struck a balance between the rich color on the bricks and a blown out version.

Not the greatest of high key shots, but the intent was there and it keeps the streak alive.

The silhouette of this tree reminded me of Q-Tips.  Since when do they grow on trees?

Intersection of Materials

10/17/11 - Week 42
When I shot this in Santorini last year, I recall thinking that I've not seen a detail like this in the States.  Intersection of brick and steel.

Window in the Wall

2/6/11 - Week 6
Another shot in the series from Goose Island.  I didn't post it in Week 5 because it's better in color than in b/w.  In addition to subject matter for the Flickr group Trash Talk Tuesday www.flickr.com/groups/trashtalktuesday/ , there are lots of old industrial buildings which also make good subjects.  This week I'll post newly shot photos and some more from the 1/29/11 Goose Island shoot.

Lots of Bricks in the Wall

1/31/11 - Week 5
Posted for Daily Shoot assignment #442: "Make a photograph that features repetition."  The difference between this brick wall and every other one is the detail in the jointery.  Not the typical raked joint.
