A handicap accessible viewpoint in the middle of the forest and a folk tale to enhance it.  It was a rough drive up there, but worth it for the view and the story.

New Time Increment

52 Frames - Week 41 - Time

Originally, I had another idea for this challenge.  However, when I saw the empty toilet paper rolls in a U.S. Forest Service facility, I figured out a new increment for measuring time.  6 empty rolls <= 9 days of government shutdown.  Clearly a stretch for the challenge but another IRL photo happenstance.

Prelude To the Crash

Photographed at 201 feet above ground level (10,180 feet above sea level).  The descent went perfect until about 10 feet above ground level when a tree branch got in the way.  Fortunately, the drone survived the tumble.

Long Time; No Fly

I had not flown my drone for quite awhile.  Decided to bring it along on a Colorado trip to get reacquainted.  Lots of areas where flying is not permitted, but fortunately, many areas where it is, including non-wilderness areas in the National Forests.   Thus far, location hasn't been an issue; rather wind gust velocity has.

Traveling in Colorado this week where the autumn color change is magnificent.  The area we are in displays predominantly yellows and oranges with very few reds.  Starting out on a chilly morning hike, my buddy Irwin pulled out his sweatshirt and I knew at that moment my streak was saved.

I photographed this scene on 8/31/23, the day the September prompts were released to Patreon members.  Turns out it foreshadowed an article  published on September 3rd in the Chicago Tribune that discussed the replacement of corporate campuses with logistics and data centers.
