I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

From The Back Seat

From The Back Seat
Alentejo Region, Portugal

On the drive from the Algarve to Lisbon, I was able to capture this landscape scene and rear window reflection in a single shot.  With Rafael sitting high above the landscape, this image represents his omnipresent knowledge which he generously shared with us over the 8 hour journey.

Experiments

Two experiments going on with these photos.

First, using a circa 1979, 50mm F1.7 manual focus lens from my post-college era camera adapted to a present day digital camera.  Second, using the same scene, looking at near and far focus points with the lens wide open to see the differences in depth of field and bokeh.  This is what happens when you're a photography nerd!

Genre Detour 2

This was an inadvertent omission in yesterday's post of images photographed at Arbor Theatre Park in Vernon Hills, IL on August 9, 2025.  Same camera but a manual Voigtlander 40mm F2.8 Heliar lens (adapted) instead.

Genre Detour

Landscape is not my normal genre of photography, but it's good to get out and mix it up every once in awhile.

These were all photographed at Arbor Theatre Park in Vernon Hills, IL on August 9, 2025 using a Sony A7Cii digital camera and a manual 1948 vintage Leica 50mm F2 Summitar lens adapted to the digital camera.

San Francisco Photowalk

A few photos from a San Francisco photowalk on 6/12/24.  After "commuting" there for many years, I hadn't been back since pre-Covid.  It is just as photogenic as ever.
