I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.

Genre Detour 2

This was an inadvertent omission in yesterday's post of images photographed at Arbor Theatre Park in Vernon Hills, IL on August 9, 2025.  Same camera but a manual Voigtlander 40mm F2.8 Heliar lens (adapted) instead.

Genre Detour

Landscape is not my normal genre of photography, but it's good to get out and mix it up every once in awhile.

These were all photographed at Arbor Theatre Park in Vernon Hills, IL on August 9, 2025 using a Sony A7Cii digital camera and a manual 1948 vintage Leica 50mm F2 Summitar lens adapted to the digital camera.

Best Boy

2022_CLondon52w45: A Peer of Your Choice

From the C.London website: "Whether it’s someone from one of our 52 Weeks community, a member of your local photography club, or a friend who also happens to be a photographer, choose a peer to draw inspiration from. Choose one of their images and recreate it within your own voice. It doesn’t have to be an exact replica, but an homage."

Sean Tucker (not truly a peer...he's a professional) came to mind when this scene occurred.  His strong use of light & shadow with warm tones was the influence in this image.

High Noon (Almost)

High Noon (Almost)
2022_Clondon52w10: High Noon

From the C.London website: “High noon is one of the more despised time of day for many photographers. The sun is, well, high, and that light is harsh, so I understand how this may lend itself to be a major challenge. But remember, with harsh light come harsh shadows, maybe intentional lens flare, artfully blown out highlights, etc etc. Have fun experimenting with conditions you may not be comfortable with - look for light reflecting off windows, or cascading over a fence creating patterned shadows. Make the light work for you, not you having to work around it.”

Brief walk to a local park that I knew would throw off some good shadows.

Peek-A-Boo Pops!
Spending some quality time with my grandson at the park on a chilly & windy day.  Didn't stop him!

Really liking the GRIIIx as it allows me the freedom to capture shots not otherwise possible with just a phone or big camera.

High Line
New York, NY

High Line Park is a creative transformation of unused urban space. Old elevated railroad tracks were re-purposed as an elevated park running from 12th Street to 30th Street at approximately 10th Avenue. Urban art is found all along the pathway.

What a concept!!
