I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

A Lesson

20220716_Independence Grove-_A7C39752022_CLondon52w28: Unconventional Light

From the C.London website: "Some of the most interesting light comes from unconventional places - a bon fire, a TV set, headlights of a car, etc etc. For this week the main light source should be from something other than the sun or light bulbs. Be as creative!"

One of the great things about these weekly prompts is the impetus to try something new. This week, thought I would try infrared light. Unfortunately, I did not order an IR filter in time, so decided to experiment with Lightroom filters & profiles. This image emulates Kodak Aerochrome.

Hooked

TooHookedTook a bike ride today to Independence Grove - 26 miles round trip.  While there, I observed this family catch and release a sizable specimen out of this small lake.

I was going for a silhouette shot and converted to b/w because the color was distracting to the contrast between the family and the water.

12 Miles to go for a 100 Mile Weekend!

12 Miles to go for a 100 Mile Weekend!
Via Flickr:
3rd leg of a 100 mile weekend; Lincolnshire to Independence Grove. Just after taking this shot, the rear tire went flat. No CO2 adapter and no pump. 3/4 mile walk to the nearest gas station to get air into the new tube. And then, a successful finish.
