I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

Expired Film Test

On 10/25/25, I took a drive up to Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, IL in order to shoot some landscape photos using a fairly new to me Leica CL film camera and Leica 50mm F2 Summicron lens.  I was fairly confident using these two pieces of gear.  What I was not confident about was how the 25-30 year old expired color film would perform.  I did convert some to black & white as it was more conducive to the subject matter.

In the end, I was reasonably pleased; but you be the judge.

Bronzeville

On 9/27/25, Beers & Cameras_Chicago and local photographer Malik Zambezi (@malikshotyou) organized a fabulous photowalk through the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago.  It was well attended by both B&C_Chi members and local community photographers, models and content creators.

The photograph of the model, Zy, below is my favorite of the day.  Taking a poll of my viewers - color or B/W?  Please let me know your preference.

Take Refuge...

Rain or shine, you're covered.  And the woman in the last photo was not taking any chances.

These were photographed at Old Orchard on August 5, 2025 using a 1973-1974 vintage Leica CL camera loaded with Kodak Ultramax 400 film and a 1948 vintage Leica 50mm F2 Summitar lens.

Fifty Fifty

Fifty Fifty
52Frames - Week 32 - Macro

My macro lens is a 50mm F2.8 Sony and I used it to shoot this 50mm F2 Leica Summitar, a lens manufactured in 1948 that I'm thinking about adding to my collection of M-mount lenses.

Scenes From the Public Market

These photos were taken July 28, 2025 at the Public Market in Milwaukee, WI and represent experimentation with camera/lens combinations not previously used. The first two shots are digital with a Sony camera and Leica 50mm lens. The next two shots are on film with a Voigtlander Bessa camera and 50mm Leica lens. The last two shots are also on film with the same camera and a Voigtlander 21mm lens.
