I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

2022_CLondon52w19: ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Wes Anderson

From the C.London website: "Some of you may already know that I studied film in college, and in a former life worked in television and film. Those who aren’t aware of that must not have joined me in any of my workshops - because attendees sure did hear my gushing of this week’s spotlight. I won’t bore you all with my analytical take on Wes Anderson’s use of color and staging (ie: mise-en-scène), because there’re endless articles, theses, and videos of people way more qualified than I discussing just that. If you’re not familiar with his films, watch at least one this week and take note of how he places his actors, props, uses color, and costuming. Then just simply search “Wes Anderson mise-en-scène” and immerse yourself in the results. This is where your inspiration will come for this week."

Perpendicular lines, symmetry, perspective and color grading are the elements of Wes Anderson's style I tried to work with this week.  Additionally, in some of the photos I shot, background subjects and reflections add context to the story. 52Frames - Week 22 - Wide Angle
Extra Credit: Ultra Wide - 16mm and wider

Early morning trip to the largest grocery store I've ever been to.  Got my steps in and only purchased 3 items.

I wanted to use my widest lens, which turns out to be an APS-C lens on my full frame camera. All processing in LRC.

Not one of my favorite things to do, but when Lin suggested we check out the new grocery, Mariano's, I agreed to go if she would let me bring my camera. The last time I took a camera into a grocery store, I almost came to blows with management who told me it was against "company policy" for customers to shoot pictures in the store. At the time, I had my DSLR with a 90mm macro lens on it.

This time, I was a little smarter and took the discreet X100. I didn't get challenged, but didn't get too many useable shots either. Still learning the new camera.
