I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

Monsieur Violin

Monsieur Violin
Via Flickr:
Lin and I were strolling through the Marais, along tight streets and beneath arcades where sounds are amplified in volume and richness. I heard violin notes in the distance and as we got closer, the music became more engaging. We passed by the arcade, into a wonderful square called Place des Vosges. Despite the activity in the square, the violin resonated.

I approached him and listened for a while longer, pointed to my camera and he nodded. I asked his name but his accent was thick and I did not catch it. After placing a 2 euro coin into his case, I returned to the square and we continued our stroll.

The street music is different and wonderful in Paris.

Can't go a week of posting pics of Paris without this one. We're staying just a block from here and I shot this on the way home from dinner.

In the late 1600's, Louis XIV spent 1/2 of France's GDP building his palace and gardens. The scale and opulence is awe-inspiring. From where this shot is taken to the end of the Grand Canal (upper center) is 1.5 miles.

Compared to the heaviness of Notre Dame, the lightness of Sainte-Chapelle's stained glass was amazing. This is NOT SymmetriCam; rather my 10mm-20mm wide angle shot from a low perspective.

Last year when I had a similar shot with the same title, the answer was Vegas? Not this time.

Not a bad reward to the Duke of Marlborough for winning a war. An enormous palace + 2000 acres of magnificent grounds. His descendants are definitely part of the lucky sperm club.
