I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

Hidden Sunrise

A few photos from a sunrise photo walk at Waukegan Harbor & Marina and the Waukegan Municipal Beach in Waukegan, IL on 6/2/24.  Weather predicted was intermittent clouds at 5:17am sunrise; what we experienced was complete cloud cover until after 8am.  Nonetheless, it was a successful morning of photography.

Ever Expanding

Ever Expanding
2024_CLondon52_February: Space Exploration - Scale

Bombay Beach is a former resort community along the coast of the now polluted Salton Sea.  As the sea dries up, the beach expands.  On it, a nascent artist community creates all kinds of funky structures and sculptures scattered across the land.

Crazy Encounter

Went out photographing and met these guys at the municipal beach in Waukegan, IL.  Air temperature was 21F,  water temperature was 35F, and they were intent on taking a swim.

2022_Clondon52w14: Color Schemes

From the C.London website: “Referring back to the introduction to color theory, this week you should pick one color scheme and utilize it in your image. As a reminder, some basic schemes include: complementary, analogous, and monochrome. If you want to get a bit more advanced, use this helpful tool via Adobe to explore some other schemes such as compound, triad, or split complementary.”

It was easy to use the complementary color scheme created by water and sand when along the Kaanapali beachfront on Maui, Hawaii for this week's challenge.

Beach Vows

Beach Vows Via Flickr:
Acting like two teenagers on the beach, Lin and I decided to leave our mark...at least until the tide comes in. Inspired by the spiritual wedding ceremony of Nikki & Wanshun.
