Wow - this morning I took a huge step out of my comfort zone. In the rush of morning commuters, I ran into Superman across from my office on Adams Street, cup in hand, waiting for donations. I told him about the $2 portrait project and asked if I could take his picture. He obliged. He said he was from Chicago, been here all his life. There were a million questions I wanted to ask, but didn't. He was cool, I was uncomfortable. I gave him $2, wished him a good day and walked on…back into my comfort zone.
This was my first venture into the $2 Portrait Project, which I learned about Tuesday night browsing on Flickr. Check out the awesome project background
here. For me, this was difficult; but I'm sure I'll do it again. Next time maybe with the D90 rather than the S95…something bigger to hide behind? Next time maybe for $5 or $10…$2 just seems too little.
3/23/11 - Week 12
While this shot is a departure from my Project52 weekly theme, I'm posting it anyway because it represents a "first" in my photography journey.
