Went to a local park with a pond and small beach hoping there would be some activity on this Labor Day weekend.  Got several shots, some even with the EC, but this was my favorite.

Another Three Beards

Earlier in August, on a photowalk with a photography friend during the Lollapalooza Music Festival, I spotted a few more beards worthy of the ongoing "Beard" series.  In each case I asked for a photo and all obliged.

Shooting at dusk with my buddy Sid in Racine, WI, we both saw puddles in a parking lot.  I caught buildings in a reflection that gave the illusion of a window in the parking lot surface.

A New Toy

I bought a new (to me) toy...Nikon 35Ti; a 35mm film point & shoot camera first introduced in 1993.  At the time, it had the best lens on the market for a camera of its type.  I'm tinkering again in the analog world.  These images are off the first roll of film I shot.

Really...It's Pink

The pink flamingos were out at the Milwaukee Zoo.  The bright sun, dark surroundings, and stark contrast on the water made for a striking composition emphasizing the importance of light position.

Astro Experiment

52Frames - Week 32 - Night Photography

EC: Astro

Weight limit on an upcoming trip is going to severely limit the amount of camera gear I can bring. Since I'll be in dark sky locations, wanted to see what's possible with a "non-astro" lens. While I'd love have my 14mm f2.8, the 20mm f4 will have to suffice.

Purposely didn't try to incorporate foreground here and pointed the camera straight up. This is a composite of 121 images at 30 seconds each; 1 hour total exposure time.

Not often does one just happen onto a scene that is framed just perfectly.

Walking back to the train with my buddy Steve after photographing the area around Lollapalooza, we came across these guys waiting their turn to skateboard. "Don't move!!" was our first reaction and these guys were really chill and complied. We each grabbed a quick photo.

Absolutely my favorite of the day and one of my favorites of the year.

52Frames - Week 31 - Distortion

While cutting peppers for the grill, I took a 52Frames commercial break and used my Nikon fisheye to capture this distorted shot of the remnants in the kitchen sink.

Last week there was some viewer pushback on my characterization of my shot as a streak-saver. Won't be any controversy this week...IT IS.
