I have been posting to this blog for over 14 years, each year reporting on accomplishments over the prior year and goals for the new year.

In 2025 and beyond, this Blog will be my main photography communication vehicle. Content will be varied and in the spirit of my approach to photography as described on the "About" page of my website at www.jeffmarcowitz.photography

The Project W pages on the website will be a curated collection of work representing the “Best Of” images posted here on the Blog. With a subscription, you'll continue to receive an email (with content) whenever I post to the Project W Blog.

Thanks to all of you who have followed this photo blog for many years and welcome to any newcomers. My hope is that the images and stories are interesting and thought-provoking as I continue this creative journey. As always, comments, critiques and suggestions (here and the website) are welcome and appreciated as they often lead to new ideas and inspiration.

Thank You.
Jeff

People of Kensington Market

These photos were taken July 11, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario, CA while spending time in the Kensington Market area. This vibrant, diverse and eclectic neighborhood was a feast for the eyes, cameras and palettes and included interesting interactions with some of the locals.

52 Frames - Week 30 - Unusual Crop

Kim has been performing this ritual on me every 6-8 weeks for over 35 years. The hair crop is normal; the image crop is not.

Bridges, Trains & Towers

These photos were taken July 10, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario, CA with my Voigtlander Bessa R4M on Cinestill 400D 35mm film. While most of my photography remains digital, I am very much enjoying a reintroduction to film photography.

52 Assignments Exposure 29 - Seeing Double

Inspired by my friend Stuart (https://glass.photo/pictorialspace1), this image is a composite of two photos taken from Ward Island of the Toronto skyline.  My camera does not do in-camera double exposure so I utilized layers in Photoshop.

52 Frames - Week 29 - Something New

I was gifted a lens about a year ago and have only used it once, but not on my small Sony full-frame A7Cii. This manual Canon 135mm lens actually weighs more than the body.  I took a variety of shots with this new camera/lens combination trying to demonstrate the attributes of DoF and compression.

52 Frames - Week 28 - In The Style Of...

I had a different photo in the style of a different photographer all picked out. However, while traveling on a photography trip with a couple of friends, we visited The Image Center at Toronto Metropolitan University where I was introduced to the work of Clara Gutsche. (https://theimagecentre.ca/exhibition/scotiabank-photography-award-clara-gutsche/)

I love her photography and was determined to create an image while in Toronto that pays homage to her style of photographing the urban fabric. I photographed this scene within a few hours of leaving the gallery.

52 Frames - Week 27 - Frame Within A Frame

I saw them approaching out of one eye and had my camera right up against the glass with the other to catch reflections.  Their glance led to my title for this photo as we had no direct eye contact other than what the camera captured.

Iconic "L"

While spending a couple of days earlier in June shooting photos with photography friends visiting Chicago from out of town, we did a photography tour with Teresa Peek - Tour Through a Lens (https://www.tourthroughalens.com). Teresa took us to this location where the "L" appears to turn in on itself.

As a local, I couldn't believe I'd never seen nor heard of this shot. Also, being a local, I could not pass up the opportunity to capture it myself.  See the BTS shots below where I'm hanging out of the parking structure with camera in one hand.
